Charisma Carpenter in Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Cordelia Chase, portrayed by Charisma Carpenter, may call herself Queen C, but she should go by Queen B. She has no filter, a witty comeback brewing in her head, and a sneer ready to tear you down. She has some of the best lines in the show. She once scared off a vampire armed with just her words (It's epic). Regardless of being an on-again, off-again bully and Buffy's frienemy, Cordi has a soft side.
By season 2, Cordelia is dating one of Buffy's best friends, Xander. He is a loser by Sunnydale High's standards. Sometimes, it takes thinking your boyfriend turning into a werefish to make you stop caring about what your popular, cheerleader friends think. You'll love his scaly ass regardless! She realizes in the season two episode, 'Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered', that she is the coolest, most independent one of her group; the rest are just sheep. Take on that attitude while rocking this look.
Cordelia's style is similar to Buffy's, but Cordi's adds on a preppy, Country Club vibe. It features more adult cuts: A-lines, turtlenecks, and high necklines. She looks for pieces that are timeless, rather than following the latest trends. She often wears her hair in a half-up, half-down style, with added volume in the bump. It's reminiscent of the 60's beehive and has ties to the Mod look.
Cordelia's clothing has an interesting connection to day and night. As opposed to other characters who wear the same outfit to school and to the Bronze, a live-band club, Cordelia's outfits are always drastically different. In the day, she wears neutral colors: navys, whites, tans, creams, and pastels, usually paired with a pop of color in a stripe or in the sweater tied around her shoulders. This school-girl look gives off an innocent, classy air, even when her words are anything but.
Her night look brings out her true, animalistic nature. She wears similar bottoms to the day look; almost exclusively mini dresses and skirts. It features dark, vamp-y and jewel-toned colors: maroon, dark green, red, and black. The necklines are more revealing; always showing a little cleavage.
Let us wish this look into existence:
The three key pieces of this look are:
Short Sleeve Turtleneck. You can hunt for a short sleeve turtleneck or a sleeveless, but you gotta show those arms! The classic would be an angora or cashmere texture. For summer, you can look for a cotton or any breathable material. Tie a sweater around your shoulders for extra prep.
Black Pleated Mini Skirt. The iconic rebellious Catholic school girl skirt; loved by anyone who is not a Catholic school girl. Don't look for a pencil skirt; make sure the pleats move with you. What separates the School Girl skirt and a Skater skirt? The form-fitting upper fabric. It gives a seam between the pleats and the tight waist. Look for added accessories on the skirt, like buckles.
Knee High Boots. Again, I swear by the comfy shoe, regardless of price.
